About the South Ulster Sinfonia

We are a 54-member Orchestra of passionate musicians who enjoy keeping our musical skills fine-tuned.

We began as an informal 'Come and Play' event in 2004 and the following year constituted as a community orchestra for adults keen to improve or re-ignite their musical skills through exploring the orchestral repertoire.   Initially a string orchestra, we now have strong wind and percussion sections and would love to add to our brass section.

We play a wide range of music: early through classical to modern, light to 'serious', easy and challenging.  We do love our Christmas charity events held in various venues.

With ages from nearly twenty to nearly 90, we draw members from Enniskillen in the west, Carrickfergus in the east, Cookstown in the north and Carrickmacross and Dundalk in the south.

Our Conductor is Philip Walton, a violist with the Ulster Orchestra

Our Leader is Fionnuala Toman
